Where prices come from

Only from stores that send us their prices. Each price shows the store, where the price came from (the store's point-of-sale system, its price feed, or entered by the store) and the time it was last updated ("as of"). Prices aren't shown yet.

Before tax

We compare prices before tax, after any store discount and including any fee the store requires, so every store is compared the same way. Every price is labelled "Before tax". If a store's own menu shows prices with tax included, we show the before-tax price, note "Menu price includes tax" and show the menu price too. If we can't tell whether a price includes tax, we list it but don't sort it.

"Estimate with tax"

Next to each price we estimate the total with Minnesota taxes, as of 2026-10-09:

• 15% cannabis gross receipts tax. Stores may pass it on, shown separately on the receipt.
• Registered medical patients buying medical products at a store with a medical endorsement pay neither the cannabis tax nor sales tax, so for visitors who've confirmed they're patients the estimate for those products equals the price before tax. At other stores we don't show a number for them; check with the store.
• 6.875% state sales tax.
• The store's local sales tax. If we don't know the store's local rate, we don't show an estimate at all.

We don't show an estimate for Tribal stores, because the tax depends on where the store is and who's buying. Check with the store.

It's an estimate, not a quote. The store's receipt is what counts.

Freshness

Prices more than 24 hours old are marked "May be out of date". Prices more than 72 hours old aren't shown.

Units

Flower, pre-rolls, vapes and concentrates are compared per gram. Edibles, beverages and tinctures are compared per 100 mg of THC. If a package doesn't state its size or THC in a way we can compare, we list it without a unit price. We don't guess sizes or potency.

We compare prices before tax. When a store's menu includes tax, we show its before-tax price and say so. "Estimate with tax" adds Minnesota's 15% cannabis tax (not for registered medical patients), 6.875% state sales tax and the store's local sales tax. We show it only when we know the local rate, and never for Tribal stores, where tax varies. It's an estimate, not a quote. Prices with an unknown tax basis are listed but not sorted.
